WHAT IS TRAFFIC SCHOOL? Traffic School is a program operated by the Clallam County Sheriff's Office to promote safe driving. The class utilizes a multi-media format with several interactive demonstrations and components. The class encourages students to ask questions to clarify state driving laws. The purpose of the school is to provide information on current driving laws, research and traffic safety issues in order to make drivers more aware and knowledgeable about driving safely. The class consists of five main sections:
ARE YOU ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND? Individuals wishing to attend traffic school due to a traffic violation, must have the permission of the Court of Jurisdiction. In Clallam County this would be: District Court 1 Clallam County Courthouse, Second Floor 223 E. 4th Street, Suite 10 Port Angeles, WA 98362 (360)417-2460 District Court 2 Clallam County District Court II 502 East Division St. Forks, WA 98331 360-374-6383 Additionally, individuals who wish to attend or have other family members attend traffic school unrelated to a traffic violation may do so at their own free will for the appropriate fee. However, doing so would not grant the individual "credit" for future tickets. IS THERE A FEE? Yes. The fee for traffic school is $35. Be aware that the Court may impose additional fees. HOW DO I SIGN UP? After you have received permission to attend Traffic School from the Court, you may sign up by one of the following ways:
There is a $20 reschedule fee for anyone who misses their appointed class. WHERE IS IT? Traffic school is held in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) located in the basement of the Clallam County Courthouse at 223 E. Fourth Street, Port Angeles. You must pre-register before attending Traffic School. WHEN IS IT? Traffic School is held on the second and third Saturdays of each month. Class begins at 8:30 am and ends at 2:30 p.m. There is a 45-minute lunch break (11:30 – 12:15 p.m.) and three 5-minute breaks during class. You must pre-register before attending Traffic School.
