CLALLAM COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE   

   Sheriff Bill Benedict began his law enforcement career with Clallam County as a deputy in 1995. He was promoted to Sergeant in April 2006 and elected sheriff in November 2006.

Prior to being elected sheriff, he worked as a patrol deputy, patrol sergeant, boating safety officer, and undercover narcotics officer.

Prior to entering law enforcement, Sheriff Benedict was a Surface Warfare Officer and Naval Flight Officer in the U.S. Navy. He made numerous deployments to Mediterranean Sea and Pacific Ocean. He retired from the Navy in 1994 with the rank of commander.

Sheriff Benedict graduated from the University of Michigan in 1971. He received a master's degree in applied physics (meteorology and oceanography) from the Naval Postgraduate School.

Sheriff Benedict lives in Sequim with his wife, Kathy. They have three adult children and three grandchildren.
